Reflective Teaching Pedagogy

Reflection paper

You have to built some foundational information about innovation, pedagogy and
education. Please reflect on these ideas and create a synthesized reflection
in a format that easily communicates your ideas (can be a combination of
media or just words on a page).
Guiding Questions: What are your thoughts about innovative pedagogy and
it's place in educational contexts? What are the implications (affordance and
constraints) of this type of revolution in education?

Introduction

Reflective teaching pedagogy involves questioning to ourselves regarding the perfection that we brought in the teaching methodology by using innovative techniques in education. This paper focus on the ideas that a teacher can implement in the educational context in the form of reflective study. Before discussing the context of innovative pedagogy we must have to be known about the term innovative pedagogy. Pedagogy is the study that involves the process by which the society will transmit the knowledge and values from one generation to another by enhancement of learning (Brookfield,2017). Innovative pedagogy is the study of being an innovative educator by making the changes in the curriculum by the use of technology that will be beneficial for the students.
In this paper as a teacher, I will focus on innovational learning methodologies that how it will help in building the future of my students as the advance pedagogy helps me to enhance my teaching and learning, which will ultimately be helpful for my students in their learning process (Salend, 2015). According to my point of view, the advance innovative pedagogy helps me in answering the various questions like: Which model of teaching am I using? How does it will be applied in the particular teaching situations? What will be the possible advantages and constraints of innovative pedagogy in the learning system? So, this reflective study helps me in finding the possible answers to all these questions.

Innovative methods used in educational pedagogy

Teaching with technology:
Teaching with the use of technology makes the study more interesting .But as a teacher, I always focus on the methods that will be easily understandable for my students so that it will help in an innovative learning process. (Hayden,2015) The technological methods help's in motivating the learning process in both distance learning education and face to face interactive classes. The technologies that I will use in my classroom teaching involves the PowerPoint slides, Moodle and the Prezi which helps me in creating an environment for my students to think beyond the imagination. In my education pedagogy, the effective use of videos and creative thinking by the mixing of creativity and technology provide excellent results.

Advantages

In my opinion as an educator, the various advantages or affordances that will be enjoyed by the user innovative pedagogy involves:
Benefits for students
From the point of view of a student, the innovative pedagogy helps in preparing the student for future by communicating and collaborating with technology to make the student comfortable (Ossa Parra,2015). It also helps in encouraging and motivating the student by taking them on a virtual world by providing access in the help of e-books and web content that helps the student in collaborating the skills in the classroom or outside the classroom.

Benefits for teachers
From the point of view of a teacher or educator, it helps in designing the student-centered teaching lessons so that the students will be able to take active participation in lessons (Barton,2014). The innovative technology like Moodle and Prezi helps the teacher in sharing the knowledge globally that helps in bringing the deeper level of understanding by making the course material more interactive and interesting. Ever note also helped me a lot in organizing the content as it is a great tool for research activity where the students will store PDF'S, images and handwritten content for the future use.

Disadvantages

As an educator, the problems that I have identified in innovative pedagogy is in the context of the proper implementation of learning as the students are just using technology for fun and not in achieving education and enhancement of skills (Sellars,2017). Secondly, students use the technology for preparing their lectures by the use of various educational sites, which make them inattentive in class and leads to poor class behavior. The use of spell checkers helps the learner in finding the exact spelling in one click which will eliminate the habit of learning spellings and they also find the shortest way of solving problems of mathematics by the use of YouTube, which sometimes results in wrong solutions. (Howard,2015) the use of innovative teaching involves huge expenditures as now the students do not depend on pen and paper but they will use the technologies with hi-tech features which require the huge sum of money for its maintenance , which will be ultimately bear by parents. According to the statistics of USA schools, 60%  schools issues laptops and tablets for imparting proper education but the present generation of students are using these laptops for using social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter etc. rather than being engaged in learning and getting the education from these devices, which will lead to cyberbullying.

Conclusion

The use of innovative pedagogy results in a number of benefits in terms of new technological advancement. To conclude this reflective report as an educator I emphasis on the practices that make the learner an educated citizen of the society, which helps them in making creative and managing the problems effectively. In present scenario, the role of an educator has changed from the subject expert to the facilitator who transmits the information by emphasizing on the latest technologies that result in effective learning. The innovative pedagogy emphasizes teachers in developing the capabilities of students in problem-solving and reflective thinking, by making contributions in a noble way.
