Management of Information System

 Information System Principles

Introduction

A building information system is considered as an important task for the success of an organization. It is considered as a planned change of an organization. In this paper, we will discuss developing a building system for an e-commerce Walmart organization to manage its expanded version of e-commerce. It is very difficult for organizations to build a sustainable information system because they need to face more and more issues in developing different types of information systems. The introduction of a new system requires much more software and hardware resources. When an organization is focusing on designing a new system, it means that It is focusing on redesigning its own organization. It is the responsibility of system builders to understand how a system will influence specific business processes and the organization as a whole.

Task 1

Laudon and Laudon describes an efficient way of building and managing the development of a new information system. We can easily build and maintain the new system for Walmart with the help of views given by the Laudon. Loudon said that when Walmart establishes its new version it should manage its technology enables changes such as automation, business process redesigns, rationalization of procedures and paradigm shift. These are the factors that influence the development of the new system in the highest manner. Loudon method suggests different types of ways with which Walmart can develop an efficient information system to manage its expanded version. According to the Laudon method, the most efficient way of building the new system is the systems' life cycle method (Laudon, K. & Laudon). This method of information system development requires that information systems should be developed in formal stages. All these stages should proceed sequentially and have defined their own outputs. Furthermore, prototyping is also considered as an important method of building an attractive information system. Prototyping helps Walmart in developing an experimental system rapidly and inexpensively for different users to interact with and evaluate in an efficient manner. Instead of it, if Walmart utilizes a software package for the development of a new system it will ultimately reduce the cost of testing, installation, design, and programming. By following all these tasks, it can develop a sustainable information system for its day to day functioning. On the other hand, the management of information systems is a very complex task for the organization than its development. As per Loudon and Laudon method, the most efficient way for implementing the new information technology system is management support and support from the user because they work as mechanisms that help in dealing with different risk factors that arose during the implementation of the system (http://web.kku.ac.th/wichuda/DataMan731/Laudon/L_mis12_C13.pdf). Furthermore, project efficiency can also manage with the contingency approach. Thus, it can be said that Laudon and Laudon method can help Walmart in managing and developing an information system in an efficient manner.

Task 2

There are lots of methods with which Walmart can build an efficient system for its organization such as extreme programming methods and electronic prototyping methods. Both methods play an important role in the development of the information system (Love, 2013). Electronic prototyping is considered as an efficient information system development method which helps the Walmart in building an experimental system inexpensively and rapidly for its different end-users (Metral, 2015). It is considered as working version of a part of the system or an information system. The electronic prototype can further refine until it meets the overall requirements of the users. Once the design of the electronic prototype system is finalised by the Walmart, it can be converted into a polished production system. The organization can develop its information security system with the help of electronic prototype method, but it needs to follow some specific steps determined in it. The first and foremost step in the electronic prototype method identifies the basic requirements of the user. Here, the user is Walmart then; it is necessary for the organization to determine its own requirements so that the system can develop as per these requirements. The second most important part is the development of an initial prototype. After finding the requirements, the system designer of the organization needs to develop an electronic prototype by utilizing different tools for rapidly generating software (Toossi, 2013). The third step is to use the prototype in an efficient way. It is helpful in measuring the current performance of the system and any requirement for its improvement. The last and final step is to revise and enhances the prototype. At this step of the system development, the organization need to notice all changes and users request a refines the electronic version of prototype accordingly. The development of the information system by the electronic prototyping method ensures higher flexibility for the organization.
Furthermore, the organization can also use extreme programming methods to ensure its profitability and accuracy. It is considered an important software engineering method which is very beneficial for agile software development methodologies (Recht, 2014). It is extremely different from the traditional methods of system development. It is the most required method of system development which helpful in different uncertain situations. It develops day to day practices or developers and managers. These practices encourage and enhance the value proposition of an information system. Thus, it can be said that both electronic prototyping and extreme programming methods are useful for the success of Walmart in developing a sustainable information system. According to me electronic prototyping method will prove very beneficial for Walmart. It is because it helps the organization in designing an efficient end-user interface with which it can interact with its customers in an efficient manner (Jaafar, 2016). The development of an information system with an electronic prototyping method ensures high security which is a core task for the management of the organization. Thus, it can be said that developing an information security system with an electronic prototyping method ensures high security and productivity for the organization.

Task 3

There are lots of measurement tools that can utilize by Walmart to judge its new version of the Website such as usability, content and readability, aesthetics, and social networking. Usability is considered a very important measurement tool to judge the efficiency of websites. It is mainly related to speed, site maps, technical details, user-friendliness, and security. One cannot easily see a security aspect of a website when typing in the URL (Zahran, 2014). But, with the usability method, one can break or make a website. It gives us knowledge about the security, and speed aspects of the website. Another main important method which proves useful in measuring the efficiency of the website is readability and its content. Two main things should focus on the organization while developing its website which is its content and readability. These are a very important tool because if the visitors of the website not able to read the content and content is not useful, then they will not visit the site again. So, it is necessary for the organization to develop such a website that is clear and visible or content is useful. On the other hand, the website can be a judge on the basis of aesthetics aspect. The best type of website design will link with the brand, clean, and create a positive impression on its visitors (Ziemba, 2016). The aesthetic of website work as a complement to which the content of the website is being communicated to others. The most important thing while developing a website is that website design and logo of the organization should link with each other. This ensures better design and long-term profitability for the organization.

Conclusion

After studying all this, it can be concluded that the development and management of an information system is a crucial task for the management of an organization. If the Walmart want to manage its expanded version of e-commerce, then it is necessary to come up with innovative and attractive information system website which attract large and large customers. The better design of its website ensures high productivity of the organization.
