Address the environmental subjects raised by the films in a two page reflection: What are the hardest and the easiest things to change that would actually help stop the heating up of the planet? What has to change to make this happen? How do you see the world coping with this issue, given the other pressing ones we all face? Why are we as a national and a globe NOT doing very much when the latest news shows itis even worse than these videos say it is? Why do we ignore climate change?
these are the videos

Here we go Hollywood again with that leonardo guy, but what is amazing is all of the global elite minds talking about this issue, and this video is over 5 years old, so everything they say is farther along now. Drama yes but not an uplifting video, so be prepared for bad news.

This BBC production begins with a scientist of the quaality of air over time--he is able to get frpom the antarctic ice "cores", ice in layers that goes back many years. In this way he can exactly measure the rate of increase in CO2 (carbon dioxide) which shows that humans are heating the planet. There is other evidence presented but I want to underline this one. You will also see some solutions, including efforts to take carbon out of the atmosphere by way of technology. This should give insight into the idea of carbon offsets, a market where people who protect forests can be paid by those who pollute.
The environment subjects raised here are depletion of fossil fuels, the declining quality of air and rising global warming in the world. These things are needed to be addressed timely. Otherwise, the planet will get heated up, and there will be a huge loss to life and resources. The easiest thing to change for controlling this situation is phase out the electricity that uses fossil fuels. If the people reduce the use of fossil fuels, like the carbon-intensive coal, then it can help in tackling the climate change. For achieving this, no new power plants should be built that burn the coal. The coal plants must be shut down, and the emissions of carbon from the power plants must be stored and captured. Instead of this, more of natural gas should be used to carry out the production processes. Then the energy efficiency can also be boosted as it is an easy thing to do. One of the largest contributors to global warming is power, coal, heat that is used in industries, households, and businesses. If energy efficient technologies are used, then same or higher level of production and service could be reached. This approach has huge potential for saving energy and money, and it is faster to deploy. If the forests and agriculture are managed effectively, the deforestation and agricultural emissions can be controlled. This also makes the practices of food production sustainable. The things that are most difficult to change are the speed by which the fossil fuels get renewed. It takes millions of years for the fossil fuels to get renewed and no technology has come up till now that can fasten this process. Then natural calamities that cause global warming deplete the fossil fuels and pollute air like volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, etc. can't be controlled. Only they can be prepared for in advance, but their happening is certain. For making the changes happen, the awareness needs to be spread among people so that man-made disasters and pollution reduces. Proper technology should be put in place so that industries and business houses don’t contribute to these things. Finally, separate legislations should be put in place, and they should be stringent enough so that people don’t damage the environment. The world is coping with the issue as there have been various agencies and bodies that are working in this direction like WHO, UNFCCC ("Stunted by climate", 2011). They make frameworks and rules for the member countries on climate change and environment and the countries have to adhere to them. We ignore climate change because we are not aware of the consequences of it in the long run. Since childhood, we have seen an abundance of the resources, and hence, we don't know how life would be if they get exhausted. Also, nobody and no country wish to take accountability of the problem (Perkins, 2011). The issue needs to be addressed with the proper budget and political parties don't like to allocate budget to this issue as they feel that the future generation will suffer from the problem of lack of quality resources and hence they will tackle with this issue themselves.
