This unit builds on the learning from Nursing Practice 3 and incorporates 240 hours of
Professional Experience Placement (PEP). The unit focuses on assisting the student to
transition to professional practice as a Registered Nurse through assessment of their

Australia (NMBA) Registered nurse standards for practice (2016). Resources

indicated stronger clarification and emphasis was required in regards to advanced
reflective practice for practice development. The unit has been redeveloped by
drawing on the principles of Practice Development in Nursing and Health Care to
provide a clearer framework for students to develop their nursing practice and
contribute to quality person-centred care.

Thus, it has been assessed that good communication among nurses and patients plays significant role that results in delivering successful individualized nursing care to each patients.

Evidence search
In order to ensure evidence based practice I have engaged in conducting literature review strategy that supports me in evaluating communication issue within the nursing practices and allow me to transit my practices. The literature search was completed through reviewing online databases that is PubMed, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, BioMed Central, EBSCO host database. This search emphasis on searching different terms such as communication, emergency services, interprofessional relations, nursing practices, patient communication and professional communication (Masters, 2015).
a. How the evidence base has influenced your future clinical decision making if you experienced a similar situation
Clinical decision making is principally influenced by interpersonal relationships with colleagues, patient conditions, availability of resources, knowledge etc. that further affect my nursing practices in effective manner. In the past I have engaged in experiencing different situation related with managing beliefs and values of patients while delivering care and services to patient. Along with this, I have also experience differences in the practices of practitioners working in the setting that impact my communication and practices in the negative aspect.
However, the situation I witnessed in which The Physical Therapist and other nurses within the setting were trying to showcase little force so that she may try to move their body part. But the repeated communication was annoying her that does not resist the elder lady to participate in the treatment. I have also evidence that residing in Australia for many years she was unable to speak English language that results in arousing an apparent communication gap. When faced with this situation again I would engage in using different components of the professional communication that mainly includes giving attention to personal and interpersonal dynamics so that I may easily exchange the information without affecting their cognitive and emotional aspects (Boyko, Carter and Bryant?Lukosius, 2016).
Thus, evidence based study has resulted in enhancing my professional communication within the setting that assist me in building relationship with the patients and their family that enhances communication. It also supports me in facilitating patient relationship so that I can easily impart high quality and standard services to them.
Along with this, if any emergent situation arises within the healthcare then as nurse helper I must engage taking effective decision through engaging in proper communication among the colleagues and other practitioners regarding the situation. Thus, it will enable in taking clinical decision making in the future scenario that would support me in taking effective decision and further enhances in transforming my nursing practices. Along with this, it also benefit in acquiring nursing knowledge and skills to clinical situations that ranges in overcoming the complexity and predictability (LoBiondo-Wood and Haber, 2014).
b. How you will demonstrate professional accountability in actively transforming your own nursing practice
In the contemporary scenario, while transforming my practices to the Registered Nurses I need to focus on demonstrating professional accountability while performing the nursing practices so that I will take required care of patients at the time of treatment. With the help of professional communication I would easily results in maintaining active accountability in the practice that significantly benefit the patient in maintaining their health. I will demonstrate professional accountability within my own nursing practices through different ways such as-
Enabling patient safety:
Through demonstrating professional accountability I would engage in transforming my nursing practices by enabling patient safety. As in the past I was unable to maintain patient safety while providing them care and service that lead to affect their confidentiality and moral aspect. Thus with the regulatory norms and standard it is required by nursing professionals such RNs to focus on professionalism in the care setting so that they may easily render effective nursing practices. They have to identify the main areas where safety has to be kept on priority like while doing operations, using medical tool or equipment etc. As per view of Chism ensuring patient safety within the healthcare matters a lot and it is necessarily required to conduct the nursing practice in the best possible manner. The main strength of the article proposed by Chism is that it helps in knowing the real relevance of patient safety and its actual contribution in satisfying the need of the patient in the best possible manner (Chism, 2017). The author also highlighted the consequences of delivering proper safety to the patients. Professional communication holds crucial importance for me since this will aid me to deliver optimum services to the client. I have been observing the problems related to communication; hence I understand the significance of the same. In terms of nursing care, it is essential for me to develop a specific plan to treat the patient suffering from arthritis. Since, she is unable to keep up the force on the body; therefore I will be suggesting other alternatives regarding her treatment. I believe that there should be a common use of language which is comprehensive to everyone as that can underpin the health care service delivery.

It also focuses reviewing the significance of professional accountability in transforming the nursing practices within the setting that overall benefit the service users in improving their health and well-being in the best possible manner.
