How Safe Is Marijuana?

Requirement

The editors for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette read your guest editorial in the Jonesboro Sun last month and since you did such a great job they know want you to write a guest editorial for them.

The group “Arkansans for Marijuana” have succeeded in getting the legalization of marijuana in Arkansas put on the ballot of the upcoming election this November.  The Democrat Gazette is running a series of daily guest editorials exploring what effect the legalization of marijuana would have on Arkansas.  They are focusing on finances, tax revenue, crime, legal issues, influx of homelessness, medical issues, and mental health issues.  The Editors definitely want your expertise when it comes to mental health issues.

They have asked you to write a 1000-1200 word guest editorial on Marijuana and mental health issues.
What affect does marijuana have on mental health?  They’re not asking you to state if you’re for or against the legalization of marijuana.  If marijuana is legalized its use will almost undoubtedly rise—how can we expect this to affect our mental health here in Arkansas?  Will it cause or exacerbate some mental health issues or will it help improve certain ones?  They have other experts who are going to address finance, crime, etc…  Mental health is the issue they want you to write about.
Again, there will be people of all walks of life reading this editorial (as opposed to stuff written in a professional journal).  So your job is to make it easily readable.
The Democrat-Gazette wants you to do your references a little differently than the Jonesboro Sun did.  The Democrat-Gazette wants you to send them 2 copies of your editorial—one with the references included in it and then a second one where the references have been taken out—this is the one they will publish in the paper—this 2nd one is the one that should be between 1000-1200 words.  They will just keep the one with the references on file should they receive questions or disagreements to your article.
The completed editorial should be emailed to me in a word format that I can see the word count.  Also, on the document title include your name and Guest Editorial 2
