Introduction

The psychology of adolescents has always been a curious aspect for psychologists and researchers from the last few decades. The scholars also focus on knowing the potentiality of the environment in which the adolescents are residing to know the impact on their overall development. Adolescence is the stage which is followed by puberty in which the person develops from the child into an adult (Gross,2017). This stage is a combination of risk and opportunities. Challenges for the youth include the engagement of adults in risky behaviours like alcohol and drug use, sexual activity, interpersonal violence etc., which results in negative impact on the young people and their families. In the present paper we have discussed the impact of external environment (like schools, peer groups, home and media) on the development of adolescents by making an analysis on strategies that how teachers and parents act  in the sensitive and effective manner for  the development of a child in this stage.

Role of home environment in the adolescent development

In the life of child home is considered as the place where the first teachings of the children will be undergone. A healthy family environment provides children and adolescents with the sense of emotional security which result in facilitating emotional security in the motivation and development of the adolescents. but a large number of children’s do not practice the congenial home environment as some suffer domestic violence , which is considered as the social problem in the society.in the recent study conducted in Slovenia , the authors found that growing in the impulsive family environment have long lasting negative mental health effects on adolescents and children.as per the research of Bakkers etal,(2014) states that the role of the positive family environment acts as the protective factor for the children’s. The use of supporting parenting helps the children in alleviating the influence on financial hardships and symptoms of depression among children’s.

Role of a school environment

With reference to the social developmental theoretical approach, Bacon (2016) argued that advancement in children and adolescents must be viewed from the angle of aspirations and motivations, by providing them chances to realize their inherited talents. Early adolescents adopt the behaviours and rules in the course of estimation that will be considered influential and significant in their development. For such a positive development, Forman (2015) argued that the school emerge as one of the influential environment where the development of early adolescents takes place (Lazarides,2015). In schools young teenagers will adopt the behaviours that bring the rewards and advantages in terms of benefits and success that helps in facilitation and integration of the adults in terms of feelings of competence and effectiveness. In the school environment the children’s and adolescents maintain the positive relationship between teachers and made them as their mentors. As a mentor the teachers maintain the personal relationships with teens, by acting as a guide or counsellor, by which they will provide support to the children’s in the difficult times.

Role of Peer groups

Alike parents and teachers, peer groups also have a predominant place in the adolescent stage. Researches state that friends have greater influence in comparison with parents and teachers. Peers influence a lot at this stage by the way of dressing, use of illicit materials, sexual behaviour, violence and other anti-social behaviours. For example the motive of alcohol consumption is related with the social events in adolescents in the company of friends by taking the approach that drinking facilitates relaxing experiences and feelings (Wentzel,,2016) On the other side friends are needed to share feelings which help in resolution of conflicts. If the person is not having friends it led to social isolation and limited social contacts, which results in fewer opportunities in developing new skills and relations.

Role of Media

Media influence plays an important part in shaping the behaviour of a child. Media influence on teenagers is sen deliberately as for example advertisement affects the lot for children’s and teenagers. Media influence will also be seen in an indirect manner on teenagers by increasing sexualisation of content in advertising, magazines, television shows, music videos and social media(Anderson,2017)The influence of media is seen in terms of violence and changes in body image. In this context social media also plays an important role in present generation teenagers. Social media is seen as the platform for maintaining friendship, interests and in exploring identities. The media connect children’s with global communities that are shred of common interests (Cooper,2016). But sometimes social media also creates risk among youngsters by being exposed to inappropriate content like sexual comments or images which dispersed the minds of young children.

Analysis of strategies for involving parents/carers in the educative process

Students are of course is the main element of the society, which are seen as the pillars of the future. In making those pillars the teachers, parents and carers play an authentic and relevant role in the education process. The strategies and actions recommended in this section of the study are based on the parent engagement research in the fields of education, and psychology. Parent’s involvement in schools creates a positive impact on the behaviour of children and adolescents (Laired,2016). For example the students who feel supported by their parents experience less emotional stress. In addition to that the studies state that when parents volunteer at their children school it leads to the initiate in the form that the children decreased their smoking habits, and the guidelines for physical activity increases. Interventions in parent’s engagement have shown a positive impact on the behaviour and health of the child (Rozek,2015). The parent engagement is considered as the encouragement for the children's in terms of value education, by assisting childrens in providing care in terms of resources and support networks.
For increasing parent and carer’s engagement in the schools, schools have to take positive actions, which includes the variety of activities for engaging patents in schools. The strategy that will be used by the schools includes connecting, sustain and engage. The connection will be done by developing the district level parent involvement and engagement plan that helps the parents in the development of the child by making them aware by using the parent engagement resources.
