The theory X suggests that the employees are less ambitious and they inherently don’t like to work. The leader believes that the employee is not brilliant so it concludes that the ‘hands on' approach should be applied to such employees who will trace the actions of employee and outcome will be given by a responsible employee. The theory X improves the efficiency of workers through systematic and uniform workflow by the managers. The theory Y is the complete contrast of theory X; the theory suggests that the employees are inherently motivated and enjoy working so new challenges will be given to them which motivates to work in a most efficient and effective manner (?ahin et al., 2012).
The management grid model has discussed the five styles of leadership which helps to show the importance of effective leadership. The graphical representation of management grid has put the concern of production on x-axis and concern of people on the y-axis. Following are the five leadership style:
Country club style: According to country club style the leader in moreconcern about the people and relatively less concern about the production. These types of managers are more concern about the safety and security of employees which helps to increase the production by increasing the performance of employees. It lies on the graph at(1, 9) point and It is known as accommodating (Hollensen et al., 2015).
Team style: It is the most commit and contributed leadership style. The leader is concern about the production as well as the people. This style encourages the spirit of teamwork and commitment among the members. The styles make the team member to feel an important part of an organization. They do not concern about anything because they don't want to be accountable for any mistake It lies on the graph at (1, 1) and it is known as indifferent.
Perish style: In this leadership style, the leaders are more concern about the high production and less concern about the people which is shown in the case study. This style is used when the managers consider the subordinates less important. The pressure is put on the employees for achieving the organizational goals. Changing mindset of management team
I will change the mindset of management team through showing the importance of effective leadership by grid management model and theory of X and Y which helps to change the mindset towards effective leadership (Goh et al., 2015).
Effective leadership helps to achieve the goals and objectives of the company through motivating and supporting the employees. The leader plays a vital role because the in the absence of leadership the inefficient work will be done in any organization. The leader initiates actions, motivates the employees, builds confidence, create morale; develop healthy work environment, and coordination. The theory X suggest that average employee can be motivated through ‘hand on' approach which helps to achieve the desired outcomes. The theory Y suggest that the employees inherently like the work and self-motivated which can be appraised through giving new challenges which help to motivate the employees. The management grid model suggests five styles of leadership which show the effective leadership leads to achieving the organizational goals. The mindset of the management team can be changed by showing them the importance of leadership by management grid model and theory of X and Y which shows that the effective leaders are necessary to achieve the organizational goals in the most efficient and effective manner.
