Introduction:

The activities of an organization are influenced greatly by the external and internal factors present in the environment where it works. In the era of rapid technological growth and economic transformations, the environment for businesses is changing very fast therefore, it is necessary for the organizations to change their structure and culture accordingly for adjusting to the changes (Hogan and Coote, 2014). However, every business has a unique structure and culture and therefore, these organizations adjust with the environmental changes in different ways The current assignment deals with the analysis of the internal factors of three different types of organizations the assignment also includes analysis on how the functions of a business interrelate with each other.

Private company overview: 

Nan Fung group is a Hong Kong based organization which operates in different sectors such as textile manufacturing, commercial and luxury property investment, financial sector. The organization also has interest in growing the business by creating partnership with different organizations. 
Growth of international business: Nan Fung Group was founded in 1954 and since then, D. Chen Din Hwa is leading the organization (Nanfung.com., 2018). Dr. Chen Din Hwa successfully grew this organization from a textile manufacturer to a large corporate business. After being established in 1954, Na Fuang Group was listed as Nan Fung Textiles Limited in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1970, was privatized in 1989 and became the second largest shareholder of Sino-Ocean land in 2010 (Alvesson and Sveningsson, 2015 ). Setting up the property investment fund of 700 million USD in partnership with HSBC, is another instance of the rapid growth of Nan Fung Group.

Li & Fung is an organization that started in 1906 (Lifung.com., 2018). Initially, the organization started working in Hong Kong but later the business operations were expanded in the international market also.
Growth of international business: Initially, operations of the Li & Fung Group were limited to delivering the handicrafts, antiques and fireworks to the western countries. However, later the business grew as a group of multinational organizations with presence in several countries across the globe including -- USA, Netherlands, Turkey and Vietnam. Diversification of the services is effective for enhancing the growth. The Li & Fung organization also diversified its services to boost the growth rate. Currently, the organization operates to create supply chain services to help the client businesses for sustaining in the digital environment. The organization also focuses on helping its clients for product innovation.

The Salvation Army is a not-for-profit organization that works for the welfare of the deprived people across the globe. The organization is actually a part of the Christian Church. However, the organization creates partnerships with a number of public and private organizations to improve the living standards of needy people
 Growth of international business: The Salvation Army was originally created by William Booth in 1865 in London (Cronley and Kim, 2017). However, the organization had spread its activities to the other countries of the world very soon. In Hong Kong, the activities of Salvation Army were first started in 1930 (Cronley and Kim, 2017). The organization employs full-time officers and other staffs for providing its services to those who are in need of it. Apart from making partnerships with other organizations, the organization also collects donations to meet its financial needs.

In case of Nan Fung Group also, creating a partnership with other organizations helped the business to increase its presence in the international market. The Nan Fung group also created a partnership with an international financial organization such as HSBC to step into the international market. Similarly, the partnership with Sino-Ocean Land also helped the organization to increase its presence in international markets such as Mainland China.

The objective and vision of the business is achieving high quality in terms of product development and service delivery. The organization also focuses on creating a sustainable operating model that does not affect the environment and focuses on the development of the community. Operating in a sustainable manner helps the business to achieve stable growth rate. In case of Nan Fung group also, mission and vision of the organization helps the management to achieve the business objectives.

Organizational and legal structure: The Nan Fung Group operates in the leadership of its founder. The organization is listed in the Hong Kong stock exchange and became a private organization. The organization has created joint venture with two other organizations for increasing its business. Creation of the joint venture is effective for the organization to expand its business in simpler way.

Information about stakeholders: Nan Fung Group gives importance on assisting its stakeholders and developing the community where it works. The Dr. Chen Foundation focuses on welfare of the community through providing assistance in medical infrastructure and education facilities. Li & Fung organization gives importance on strengthening its relationship with the customers by providing them with the innovative services and therefore, the organization emphasizes on continuous research and incorporating innovation in its services

Products and services: Li & Fung organization focuses on offering wide range of supply chain solutions to the clients present across the globe. The services offered by Li & Fung can be broadly classified as the trading and logistics. Li & Fung provides a range of trading services including raw material sourcing, product specifications, product designing and developing. The logistics services of the organization include integrated solutions for the clients dealing with footwear and fast-moving consumer goods. In other words, the Li & Fung organization focuses on providing its customers with holistic solutions for product sourcing, designing , developing and delivering those to the end customers.

Size and scope: Li & Fung organization operates in Asia, Europe and the USA The total turnover of Li & Fung in 2017 across all the markets was about 7240 million USD. The core operational profit of the organization in 2017 is approximately 170 million USD. Li & Fung organization currently has a workforce of more than 21000 people. Discussion on the Li & Fung indicates that it is a large sized multinational organization. The management is giving importance on providing its clients with innovative services. It can help the organization to expand its business faster.

Vision, mission and business objectives: Vision of the La & Fung group is utilizing the resources of the planet in a responsible way. The organization focuses on designing the supply chain networks for its clients in a sustainable way. The organization also gives stress on assisting the community with which it deals. Objective of the organization Li & Fung is enabling their clients to cope with the latest digital economy through using the innovative supply chain services. Organizational and legal structure: Li & Fung group is a privately held company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The Li & Fung Company was developed in 1906. It was listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1937. Fung Group is the major shareholder of this organization.

The management of Li & Fung group also puts stress on fulfilling requirements of the stakeholders. Background details: The Salvation Army was established by William Booth in London with the intention to support the churches. In the early days, the founder of Salvation Army focused on supporting the converts to and encouraging them to go to the churches. However, later the founder realized that improving the lives of poor people is also important and so, the focus of the organization shifted to ensuring the well-being of needy people. Although the Salvation Army was established in London, currently it reaches to the people of Asia and Africa also. 

Products and services: The Salvation Army offers wide range of services to the society including increasing availability of the health services and spreading education to all levels of the society. The organization also focuses on improving the living status of women and empowering them. The human-trafficking and modern day slavery has become one of the major problems to the society. The Salvation Army gives importance on working to mitigate these two issues also. By 2015, the organization reached nearly 127 countries and the organization offers its services in about 175 languages (Eva et al.2017). The scope of growth of salvation Army is high as it focuses on helping every people who needs support for living. The organization offers its services through the private the public organizations. The volunteers, partnering organizations and the people who need services of the Salvation Army are the main stakeholders of this organization (O'Neill et al.2016). The organization helps the members of its team to deliver the services by providing them with the guidelines. One of the goals of the organization is encouraging more people to help them for offering the services. Therefore, the organization encourages its stakeholders especially the youth to support the Army for helping the needy.

In case of large multinational organizations, the different business units need to collaborate with each other while undertaking its own activities. The Salvation Army not only works in Hong Kong, but it offers its services to the other nations also. Therefore, it is necessary for the organization to keep collaboration among all the divisional units. On the other hand, the Salvation Army offers a range of services including the educational supports, health-related supports and anti-trafficking initiatives. So, the functional units of the organization also need to collaborate with each other. It indicates that for the large organizations such as the Salvation Army managing the divisional and functional units simultaneously.
 The Salvation Army follows a matrix structure to operate across the globe. The organization is divided into a number of functional and divisional units. The matrix structure helps an organization to ensure coordination among the different functional and divisional units. Incorporation of matrix structure helps the Salvation Army team to meet the need of people in Hong Kong while maintaining integrity with other teams working in other countries. On the other hand, the functional structure is effective for the organization to carry out the tasks for different activities. The Salvation Army in Hong Kong is divided into multiple functional units including the women’s division, advisory committee and the unit of General Secretary. Incorporation of the matrix structure helps the organization to maintain communication among all the functional units and operate smoothly.

Conclusion:

The current discussion indicates that all the private, public and the not-for-profit organizations work for delivering their services effectively while contributing in the community development. The research also indicates that the organizational structure plays a pivotal role in its operation. The Salvation Army incorporates a matrix structure so that it can keep co-ordination between the functional and divisional units.
