Section 1
Belbin Results:

The Belbin results were as follows:

  • Preferred styles: Coordinator (13), Monitor Evaluator (11) and Implementer (10).

  • Less preferred styles: Shaper (5), Completer-finisher (6) and Resource Investigator (7).

  • Styles to avoid: Team Work (4), Plant (3) and Specialist (1)

As per the results of the preferred style, for the role of Coordinator, I am capable of guiding the team with various ideas albeit these ideas are not remarkable. I being a Coordinator am quickly able to recognize all the values and skills that my team members possess. Coming to the Monitor Evaluator, the result depicts that I would have all the right judgments, discretion and therefore I'll be more analyzing towards the pros and cons of various situations. Lastly, for the role of Implementer, I possess practical common sense and organizing ability so as to get my things done. These qualities enable me to turn the ideas and concepts into the practical actions.

While the less preferred role suggests that in case my team needs me to perform some extra tasks, then I would take on the roles that would require me to work on my ability for finding innovative and critical information. For finishing off the task, I will ensure a thorough and detailed completion in a stipulated time, with minimal to no errors in my work. Lastly, I am curious and innovative and would explore all the available options and to imbibe readiness in my work for challenging the complacency, inertia, ineffectiveness or any kind of self-deception.

The roles that I should avoid as per the results are as a planner and as the role is all about imagination and the ideas may look impractical sometimes. Further, I should restrain from teamwork and should not try to bring new knowledge or skills.

Mayer-Briggs Type Indicator Results:

From the preferred styles,

  • Preferred styles: jugging (very clear 10 marks), thinking (clear with 7 marks), introversion (Moderate with 5 marks) and Intuition (moderate with 6 marks).

  • Style to avoid: Perceiving (Very clear 2 marks), Feeling (clear with 3 marks), Extraversion (Moderate with3 marks) and Sensing (Moderate with 4 marks)

Preferred Style:  As per the MBTI test, I am shy and reserved in nature but reflective, and I have to think the things through before starting working on them. I have a bright thinking and can imagine a big picture and can generate an innovative idea. I am opinionated and can imagine all the goals and ideas that I need to achieve.During the time of making a choice, I use logical and rational thinking. I try to complete the task within the stipulated time and plan them before handed.

The roles that I need to avoid: As per the MBTI, I need to stop talking regarding the things before doing them. Further, I should consider the ideas of other team members before working on my work. And I should avoid any kind of surprise throughout the work.
VAK Learning Styles results:

  • Preferred style: Kinesthetic/physical I got 45 points out of 120 available

  • Less preferred style: Visual I got 42 points out of 120 available.

  • Style to avoid: Auditory in which I got 37 out of 120 available.

According to the VAK test, my preferred style is Kinesthetic/physical. Interaction, using color codes for different subjects and their identification make me work and learn better. Further, I learn when I guide the learners via a visualization of the complicated tasks.
Secondary style: The test states that my second preferred style is visual, depicting that I can comprehend things better after seeing a graph or any chart and suggest making a drawing instead of written notes.
The style that I should avoid: According to this test I should avoid Auditory, and it would be hard for me to explain things while someone is making me explain regarding them.

Section 2

While having a look at the test, I strongly agree with the results of VAK tests as I comprehend things better when I visualize them or interact with the work physically. Visualization enhances my memory and further increases my curiosity while the auditory style fails to do so. Consequently, I find it difficult to focus on the things that are being told to me in an auditory manner and do not like to read much. As these memories get faded away fast and I do not delve deeper into the subject.

Additionally, I do completely agree with the results of the other two tests and Belbin test to be precise. I believe myself to handle things better in alone more rather than working with a team.  I further believe myself to be an implementer as I am very disciplined and organized, and I find it rather easier to get things done from other people and prefer the right balance of teamwork from both, in case any. I do believe to have the qualities of a coordinator as I am calm and can delegate the tasks effectively and can also guide my team members regarding the perception of the objective.

Similarly, I am shy and reserved, rightly as the MBTI results depict. I do believe myself to be opinionated and utilize logical and rational thinking and being disciplined I find it easier to complete the task within a given frame of time. Lastly, I do consider the ideas and concepts of my team members before working on the project.
I took the test for the first time and did not have much clue regarding the test and therefore went blank with the questions that I could impose. I was all alone with the applicator, and the procedure went on smoothly. I was not given explanations by the applicator, so I did not initially know what the test was exactly for. I could research about it only after the test had been conducted.

I researched and found that these tests are highly reliable but sometimes there can discrepancies as the characteristics and the styles change during various phases of the life. These answers cannot be critically assessed as "right or wrong" or "good or bad" as all the styles have their own sets of weaknesses and strengths. Jane Henry in his book stated that the tests cannot clearly define the person by taking the example of a right-handed and left-handed person, but one cannot distinguish as to which one would be more dextrous in nature and the same stands for these tests. However, many types of research like Swailes and McIntyre?Bhatty (2002) and analyzes have depicted the reliability of these tests.
Thus, I conclude that in my case the test did give good results as I do agree with the results of Belbin and MBTI and VAK.

Section 3

From the Belbin tests and their results, I believe I can be a suitable candidate for the job, but I need to work on my team management skills as per the report. Therefore, I will try to present myself as a good team worker and involve as much as I can in group projects ad group activities. Further, I can listen actively, this will enhance my auditory skills and further would improve my VAK tests. I would further be more willing to share the information, experience and knowledge with other mates. And would be forthcoming in informal sharing.

Secondly, I need to work on my auditory skills. For that, I’ll try to be a good listen amongst my team and would let go of all the preconceived ideas. I’ll try to adopt an open mind and would try to empathize fully with what the speaker has been telling me. If ill disagree with the views of other, I’ll make sure that I am letting the speaker complete his views and then would construct a right argument for countering on what is to be said and would try to have an open mind regarding opinions of others.
While taking the test again, I’ll make sure that I emphasis on the qualities that I have imbibed and without letting go of the other qualities that I possess. I’ll try to maintain a balance between the qualities that highlighted during this test and the ones that I worked upon after my first test.
I would emphasis on my team working skills and the ability to listen to others and comprehend what it meant while mentioning the fact that I also contribute my level best for completing the tasks on time owing to my organized and disciplined behavior. I would focus on having all the right judgments, discretion and how ill be analyzing towards the pros and cons of various situations. I would highlight the possession of practical common sense and organizing ability so as to get my things done. These qualities enable me to turn the ideas and concepts into practical actions. This presentation I believe would increase my Belbin score and help me with my job.
