SAT vs ACT – Which one is the best to select

Today education becomes very competitive and there are many options for a student. Students often confuse between SAT and Act, which exam, they should appear? I will suggest for both the exam with appropriate time span. Once you get scores from both the exams, you can compare the results and have a clear idea about your goal. If the scores are same or nearly same, then you should go with what you like the most. You can compare and mark the differences between the two tests easily.

What is SAT?

The SAT is a standardized exam in which students have to appear for college admissions in the United States. In 1926 it was first introduced and its name has been changed quite a lot of times – first it was called the Scholastic Aptitude Test, then the Scholastic Assessment Test, then the SAT Reasoning Test, and now it is simply the SAT.

What is ACT?

The ACT (American College Testing) college readiness assessment is a standardized examination for high school success and college admissions in the United States produced by ACT, Inc.

Though it is confusing to choose the appropriate one, yet it is not impossible to select. You should go for what you prefer and as per your capability. In this article I am going to highlight some thin lines which will assist you to select the path.

A brief idea has given below:

  1. Vocabulary

It plays an important role in the SAT, but plays only a minor role in the ACT. So students with weak vocabularies should avoid the SAT and choose ACT.

  1. Math

In comparison to the ACT, SAT math has easier content, though it has little tricky. No doubt, word problems and tricky wording appear on both the exams, so they have to choose carefully one of them.

  1. Comprehension

Between these two tests, the SAT gives you more time per question than the ACT. But the problem is, it asks a little harder question.

  1. Science

Science subject is a part of the ACT. Science is a challenging subject so may be some students select SAT instead of ACT.

  1. Additional Time and Testing Time

The most general timing allocations on the SAT are either 1 and half an hour or two hours. In both the cases, the time is equally divided among all the sections. You can say, if you have 1.5 hours, you will get 37.5 minutes per section.
